Having the right information can make the difference between creating a flavorful dishes or not.

When do you add your spices and fresh herbs?

Only few ingredients can be added at the end of cooking processes and those are mostly fresh herbs or already pre-established flavors from a sauce or liquids . Dry herbs and spices require heat to release flavor and time to be blended together. Make sure the spices or herbs are not over cooked because the flavors can evaporate resulting in no flavor at all. Spices and dry herbs should be added depend on the length of cooking. For short cooking time dishes, spices should be added at the beginning and for long cooking time towards middle of cooking.

Remember that you can adjust some flavors at the end by adding already flavored sauces or liquids . Some example are soy sauce, pepper sauce, liquid smoke, flavorful oils, stocks, bullion etc
